Department Raises Income Limits For Housing Loan Programs

Salem, Oregon (February 28, 2002) - Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) announced today that it has increased the annual income limits for its Residential Loan Program, a below-market interest rate loan program serving low and moderate income Oregonians, and other applicable multi-family programs administered by the department. "We are excited about the increased income limits because we now have the opportunity to help more Oregon families find affordable housing," said Bob Repine, OHCS Director.

Now, more first-time homebuyers can purchase a home utilizing the below-market interest rate home loan program. "Our higher purchase price and income limits, coupled with a record low rate of 5.95%, make it a great time for Oregonians to purchase their first home with the state’s home loan program" said Bob Repine, OHCS Director.

The State Housing Council approved these two loans at their April 26, 2002 meeting in Eugene.

Salem, Oregon (May 8, 2002) – Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) is pleased to announce its new affordable housing tool, the Farmworker Housing Development Tax Credit Program. Bills passed in the 2001 Legislative Session transferred the Program from the Department of Consumer and Business Services, Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OR-OSHA) to OHCS, and strengthened the Program to encourage more construction and rehabilitation of housing for farmworkers around the state.

Salem, Oregon (June 3, 2002) – Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) announces the funding of 18 new housing projects totaling more than $32 million as part of its Spring 2002 Consolidated Funding Cycle. These projects will provide or support additional 425 units of affordable housing for low-income families and special needs populations including the elderly, mentally ill, and developmentally disabled. "We are pleased to be able to support projects such as these that meet the needs of these special populations," said Bob Repine, OHCS Director.

Salem, Oregon, (June 27, 2002) - Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) announced today that it has lowered the interest rate for its Residential Loan Program to a record low rate of 5.75% (fixed). "We pride ourselves on offering low and moderate income first-time homebuyers great fixed rates, and this 5.75% rate is lower than it has ever been" said Bob Repine, OHCS Director. "Potential homebuyers who have been on the fence about buying their first home should seriously consider exploring this unique homebuying opportunity with one of our Participating Lenders."
