Salem, Oregon (December 22, 2005) – Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) has been designated to implement new legislation drafted by the Manufactured Housing Landlord/Tenant Coalition, House Bill 2247 on January 1, 2006. HB 2247 requires continuing education for managers of manufactured dwelling parks, as well as registration of their parks with the Manufactured Dwelling Park Community Relations (MDPCR) office.

State approves housing funding generating over $175 million in economic activity across Oregon

Salem, Oregon (November 23, 2005) – Twenty housing projects across the state will receive funding through the Oregon Housing and Community Services Fall funding cycle. Together, these projects will provide 783 units of affordable housing for Oregonians and generate approximately $178.5 million in economic activity throughout the state’s economy.

"As the winter months approach, it is important for our partners and the public to be aware of the numerous benefits of our weatherization programs," said Bob Repine, OHCS Director. "Many elderly and low-income Oregonians often have to make difficult choices between paying their energy bills or purchasing other needed items like medicine and food. Our weatherization programs help these families stay safe and comfortable in winter months."

OHCS Receives Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting for Tenth Consecutive Year

Salem, Oregon (September 22, 2005) – Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) proudly announces that the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was awarded for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 2004. The award was given by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. OHCS designated its Financial Management Division as being primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning document and accordingly was presented with the award.

Together, these projects will add and/or preserve 141 units of affordable housing for the elderly, disabled, homeless persons with disabilities as well as low-income individuals and families. These developments will also add over $29 million in economic value to the State’s economy.

Salem, Oregon (June 13, 2005) – Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) announces the funding of 8 affordable housing developments through the Spring 2005 Consolidated Funding Cycle (CFC). Together, these projects will provide 310 units of affordable housing for Oregonians and add approximately $48.5 in economic value to the state’s economy. These units are targeted for low-income individuals, families, physically disabled, developmentally disabled, ex-offenders, homeless, persons with HIV/AIDS and persons recovering from drug & alcohol addiction.

The awards were presented for outstanding achievement during the past two years to promote, sponsor, finance and develop affordable housing in Oregon. An impartial panel selected the award recipients based on cost-effective production, achieving affordable rent levels, innovative financing, attractive design and architecture, and inclusion of tenant services or amenities.

Salem, Oregon (May 9, 2005) – Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) announced today that the agency has implemented the expansion of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) for Oregon in April this year. The USDA Food and Nutrition Services recently increased Oregon’s CSFP caseload, which will enable the program to feed an additional 455 low-income senior citizens in need each month.

Salem, Oregon (January 25, 2005) - Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) announced today it increased its purchase price limits for its Residential Loan Program in 30 of Oregon’s 36 counties. The state-sponsored home loan program, also known as the "Oregon Bond Loan Program," offers qualified homebuyers below-market interest rates on thirty-year fixed rate loans. "These increases allow more properties to qualify for our agency’s home loan program and closing cost assistance." said Bob Repine, OHCS Director. "With home prices and the cash a borrower needs to close a home loan continuing to rise, our program plays a key role in helping Oregonians buy a home of their own."
