Housing assistance available for Oregon storm victims
Salem, Oregon (December 11, 2007) – Oregon Housing and Community Services today granted waivers to allow families displaced by the coastal storm to occupy “affordable housing” units without providing income eligibility, Gov. Ted Kulongoski has announced.

State approves housing funds generating over $256.6 million in economic activity across Oregon

Congressional action sought to protect Oregon’s Section 8 housing
Salem, Oregon (October 23, 2007) – Victor Merced, director, Oregon Housing and Community Services has appealed to members of the state’s congressional delegation to extend full funding for the federal affordable housing program that is vital to some 30,000 Oregonians and their families who depend upon federally subsidized rent.

OHCS Seeks Public Comment on Draft 2008 Action Plan relating to the use of funding from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development
Salem, Oregon - Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) seeks public comment on the draft 2008 Action Plan relating to the use of funding from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
 
OHCS and Oregon Economic Community Development Department (OECDD), and Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) will jointly submit an action plan to HUD for a variety of housing and community development activities. Descriptions of those activities are in the draft 2008 Action Plan. OHCS seeks public comment on the draft Action Plan through October 12, 2007. OHCS, DHS and OECDD will hold a public hearing at 12:00 p.m. on October 11, 2007 at OECDD, 775 Summer Street NE, Salem, OR in room 201. The draft 2008 Action Plan can be viewed on the OHCS Web site.

State approves housing funds generating over $32.7 million in economic activity across Oregon
Salem, Oregon (August 8, 2007) – Twelve low-income housing projects throughout Oregon will receive funding through the Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) spring 2007 funding cycle, OHCS Director Victor Merced announced Friday.
 
These combined grants, loans and tax credits will amount to nearly $19.3million in total project costs, which will support construction or rehabilitation of 126 units of affordable housing around the state. The projects will generate approximately $32.7 million in economic activity throughout the state’s economy.

Salem, Oregon (May 30, 2007) – Low-income Oregonians will benefit from 186 units of affordable housing recently funded by Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) and the Oregon State Housing Council. These units will also bring in an estimated $1,119,000 or more in biennial federal subsidies to provide rental assistance for low-income individuals and families.

Rural homeless benefit by almost $1.5 million
Salem, Oregon (May 14, 2007) – Rural Oregon Continuum of Care (ROCC) has received $1,473,673 in federal grant funds to help the homeless. ROCC is a program of Oregon Housing and Community Services, which has successfully applied for these funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the past six years.

Governor, Congressional Delegation Try to Stave Off Cuts to Oregon’s Low-Income Weatherization Assistance Program
